ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Wendii, founder and sole practitioner at True Sol Psychosocial Supports.
I specialise in supporting individuals experiencing trauma and housing instability, as well as those with complex psychosocial needs, through trauma-informed, strengths-based, and holistic practice.
My primary goal is to empower people to recognise their strengths and reconnect with what matters most to them.
Working collaboratively with the individual and other key stakeholders, we focus on developing practical skills, navigating complex systems and strengthening capacity for independence, wellbeing and meaningful connection with family, community and self - fostering sustainable, achievable change that respects each person's unique journey.
As a woman of Vietnamese-Chinese heritage, I have developed a deep appreciation for the role that culture, family, identity, and community can play in shaping a person's lived experience. These influences can affect values, relationships, coping, and the way people navigate challenges and systems. I bring this awareness into my practice, with a focus on understanding each person in the context of their world.
Having supported a family member through acute mental illness, I have also gained invaluable personal insight into the challenges individuals and families can face during periods of crisis and uncertainty, particularly whilst navigating a pressured and complex service system.
This experience continues to inform my practice and has deepened my understanding of the emotional, relational and practical challenges that can arise. It reinforces the importance of walking alongside people with compassion, empathy and patience every step of the way- focusing on recovery, dignity and meaningful lasting change.
WHY TRUE SOL?
The name True Sol reflects both my values and my journey.
True represents authenticity, honesty, and living in alignment with one’s core values — and is also a meaningful play on my surname, Trieu. Trieu by name, true by nature.
It is a reminder that who we are at our core is our greatest source of strength.
Sol, the Latin word for sun, symbolises light, warmth, clarity, and growth.
Together, True Sol represents the “true sun” — a radiant, guiding light that supports individuals in reconnecting with their authentic selves to move forward with confidence on their recovery journey.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
I am a qualified social worker with over 15 years of experience across government and not-for-profit community organisations, primarily in housing and homelessness services including VincentCare and The Salvation Army. My work has focused on supporting people with complex needs, including mental health challenges, alcohol and substance use, and significant psychosocial stressors, often during periods of crisis, instability or transition.
Alongside this, I have worked in a range of specialised settings, including correctional facilities, refugee and asylum seeker communities, veterans and communities impacted by natural disasters. In these contexts, I have provided case management support, informal supportive counselling, psychological first aid, and trauma-informed, person-centred, recovery-focused interventions during highly vulnerable periods.
MY APPROACH TO CARE
I draw on a holistic, person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice framework, grounded in compassion, safety and respect.
This approach recognises that wellbeing is not only impacted by immediate presenting concerns, but also by the broader biological, emotional, psychological, social and systemic factors that shape recovery.
